11 October was International Girl Child Day. This was celebrated in a grand and memorable way by the girls of Kasturba Balika Vidyalaya.They were invited for the occasion by the First Lady of the Nation in Rashtrapati Bhavan for a function and felicitation.130 girls of the hostel attended the function along with some teachers, Vice Principal and the Manager.The team was led by Shri Laxmi Dass, Vice President of Harijan Sewak Sangh.The girls were first taken for a round of Rashtrapati Bhawan and saw all the historical parts, its glamour and grandeur. After that a function was organized in the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. It is a newly built wing with many facilities for big functions.
The programme was jointly sponsored by Sahyog, a NGO started by Miss.Swati Kovind, daughter of Rashtrapati Ji. It was graced by and presided over by Mrs Savita Kovind, wife of Rashtrapati Ji and First Lady of the Nation. Sahyog is engaged in activities helping women and children and has participated in some earlier functions in Kasturba Balika Vidyalaya. The girls sang some bhajans and songs. But the more important part of the function was the two dances performed by the girls, Ghoomer and Dandiya which was appropriate as it was being performed during Navratri days. They were in colourful uniforms and wore jewellery. The dances were very good and were highly appreciated by the First Lady.and all those who were present in the function.
Gandhi Jayanti , birthday of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated in Kasturba Balika Vidyalaya on Ist Oct 2021. All National Days are celebrated in all schools one day before the actual day as the actual day is a holiday. For the function we had invited Miss Swati Kovind, daughter of the President of India as our chief guest.She is founder trustee and CEO of SAHYOG a NGO engaged in helping women and children. Through her we had also invited two senior functionaries of Aksahya Patra which works for providing mid-day meals all over the country. It is a subsidiary of ISKON, Bangalore. The organization which started with 1500 meals in the year 2000 now distributes 19 lacs meals a day covering many States and UTs in India. From Akshaya Patra our guests were 1. Shri Teju S who is heading Government Affairs and Public Policy department of the organization and 2. Shri Shyama Kishore Dasa who is serving as Government Relations Officer of Akshaya Patra in Delhi.
The function took place in two parts. In the school about 500 girl students were present with our 25 teachers. The VIPs first presented a Shradhanjali to a photograph of Gandhiji with flowers. Then two motivational bhajans were sung by the girls.The guests spoke on the life of Gandhiji and gave an inspiring speech to the girls.
In the second part in the hostel, Akshya Patra and Sahyog jointly distributed a large box as a gift to all the 130 girls who were present on that day. It contained many items like a bedsheet, three towels, cakes of soap, biscuits, sanitizer and more. This was Miss Kovind's fourth visit to the school during the last two years. She likes to visit the school and particularly interact with the hostel girls. She always brings gifts for them.
Micro Precision Products Ltd has been giving us CSR grants for the last four years.It belongs to Wika Group of Germany. Their Executive Vice President Sales, Europe, Middle East, Asia and India visited the school on 23 August 2021. Mr. Gaurav Bawa, Senior Vice President Wika India Group was also present. KBV was set up in 1944 soon after the death of Mrs. Kasturba Gandhi, wife of Mahatma Gandhi by close followers of Gandhiji, who wanted to provide quality education for girls from underprivileged families.
